The Building Department's mission is to work together to help build a community that we can all enjoy and be a part of. We strive to provide services that protect the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens with a professional, user-friendly and courteous staff.

Work That Requires A Permit

House (modular or stick-built)

Patios and decks over 200 sq. ft., including pool decks

Room additions

Garage and garage additions

All carports

Porch w/roof (includes over existing slab)

Room over existing patio or deck

Replacement or repair of foundation walls

Replacement of footers

Relocation, removal or replacement of bearing or non-bearing walls

Replacement or repair of ceiling or floor joists

Replacement or repair of trusses or rafters

All detached buildings over 200 sq. ft.

Replacement of chimney or fireplace

Replacement of furnace or central air conditioning

Rewiring or alteration of wiring on an existing building

Electrical service upgrade (includes relocation or adding additional panel) and reconnect inspections

Swimming pools -- electric and bonding

Conversion of non-living space to living space (garages, basements, attics)

Re-roofing or shingles (no more than 2 layers permitted)

No Permit Required (All contractors are required to be registered to work in Eaton.)

** ZONING APPROVAL AND CERTIFICATE MUST BE OBTAINED BEFORE WORK IS STARTED.
