Eaton Fire/EMS, Police divisions welcome new staff

Bekemeier, Isaacs sworn in

During a Monday, Oct. 17, Eaton City Council meeting, both the Eaton Police Division and Eaton Fire/EMS welcomed staffing changes.

After council approved a resolution updating the City’s organizational listing to include an Assistant Fire/EMS Chief position, Fire/EMS Chief Brian Smith introduced Andy Bekemeier who had been selected to fill the role following an extensive interview process.

Bekemeier has over 15 years of experience in the fire service. He has been with the Eaton Fire /EMS Division since 2013 and was promoted first to lieutenant in January 2020 then to captain in August 2020.

Mayor Joe Renner officiated Bekemeier’s swearing-in and council congratulated him. Bekemeier was joined by his family to help recognize the occasion.

Also during the meeting, Police Chief Steve Hurd introduced new Eaton Police Officer Jacob Isaacs, who was also sworn in by Mayor Renner.

Isaacs, a resident of Lewisburg, is a graduate of Sinclair Community College and was a previous school resource officer for the Lewisburg Police Department.

Council welcomed Isaacs, who was also joined by his family, to the City and EPD.
