Council recognizes Hitchcock for tennis achievements

Mayor Matt Venable presents Mallory Hitchcock a resolution honoring her tennis achievements.

During its Monday, Dec. 16, meeting, Eaton City Council honored Eaton High School senior Mallory Hitchcock for her recent success at the 2024 OHSAA Girls Tennis State Tournament. 

Hitchcock, who is a two-time state champion, took 3rd place during the tournament held in October. 

Council passed a resolution in her honor, and Mayor Matt Venable presented her with a copy during the meeting. 

The resolution noted: whereas two-time state champion Mallory Hitchcock finished third in the Division II Southwestern Buckeye League Southwest District tournament on Oct. 10, 2024, to advance to the OHSAA Division II State Singles Championship; and whereas she placed 3rd in the state at the OHSAA Division II State Singles Championship, Oct.17-18, 2024; and whereas she should be recognized for her continued winning ways, hard work, good sportsmanship, and dedication, Eaton City Council does hereby wish to honor Mallory Hitchcock for her performance in Division II State Singles at the 2024 OHSAA Girls Tennis State Tournament, and for being named All-League and First Team in the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division.”

The resolution continued, “Therefore, now be it resolved that the members of Eaton City Council do hereby congratulate and honor Mallory Hitchcock and encourage all citizens to reflect upon the dedication, determination and perseverance that has enabled her to continue her winning tennis career.”
